Sensitivity Testing
Smoke sensitivity testing, also referred to as a calibration test, is a procedure that introduces smoke to the head of the smoke detector and measures its sensitivity to ensure that it is operating within specified parameters. Testing should be conducted by a qualified technician in conjunction with regular inspections and functional testing. Smoke detectors that do not fall within the recommended sensitivity range during testing must be cleaned and recalibrated or replaced.
